We previously reported that Virgin Media will roll out 50Mbit across the local county soon. To further smash that speed, a trial of 200Mbit is currently underway in certain parts of the UK. The trail is only available to certain IT professionals as it requires in-depth testing procedures.
Eutelsat are launching a 10mbit broadband service to the entire UK. At the moment faster speeds are available around the country through existing ADSL and Cable services. However, rural areas still do not have access to such high speeds.
Virgin Media who famously announced the fastest consumer Internet service in the UK are starting their rollout of service in Hertfordshire. At the start, the 50mb service was only available in certain areas where the technology upgrades had been completed. While most of Hertfordshire is still not covered at present, the rollout during 2009 should see all Virgin cabled towns supporting the 50Mb service.

In the third week of April 2009, Microsoft will start requesting users upgrade their Internet Explorer 6 and 7 versions to the latest version 8. The move could be an effort for Microsoft to regain the IE leadership over Firefox for a specific version.
