Intel develop 50Gbps laser light beams

Intel just in the last week has announced the world’s first silicon based optical data connection that incorporates lasers. Distance is vastly extended over current copper technology as well as allowing greater speeds of 50 gigabits per second. For those who aren’t technically minded, that’s the equivalent of 1 High Definition film being transmitted every second.

While the technology is in its prototype stage, it means in the future we can look forward to less cluttered server rooms as well as faster data transfers between our devices and the computer.
